Welcome to the home page of Crimean Backpackers. Crimea is one of Europe's best kept secrets. This huge peninsula on the Black Sea coast encompasses phenomenal diversity of scenery, wildlife and flowers, including steppe, mountains, forest, lagoons, vinyards, cliffs and coast. It's great for sport - coast-walking, mountaineering, rock-climbing, scuba diving, hang-gliding, pony-trecking or mountain-biking, and it's rich in history, palaces, fortresses, culture, with a distinctive wine-making tradition which has never been globalized. Shut for many years to all but the most privileged Soviet party members, with secret military cities, ports and ranges, it is now open for business. Almost unbelievably, it still remains almost totally unknown except to a fortunate few, but this will surely change very soon - so now is the best time to visit this lovely and romantic destination!
